Over the past several months, we&#8217;ve been collaborating with a couple of our magnificent colleagues to organize an exciting event to which we&#8217;d like to invite you: a one day symposium on climate change we&#8217;re calling &#8220;Climate Literacies: Reading the Anthropocene.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The symposium\u00a0will bring together scholars from the humanities and sciences, conservationists, leaders of Michigan environmental organizations, activists, and advocates for environmental justice to talk about politics, scholarship, the arts, the ecology of the Great Lakes, and the implications of climate change for Michigan and beyond. And don&#8217;t worry, Enbridge is sure to get a mention!<a href=\"http:\/\/grangehallpress.com\/Enbridgeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ClimatePoster_B_Final.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3682\" src=\"http:\/\/grangehallpress.com\/Enbridgeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ClimatePoster_B_Final-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"ClimatePoster_B_Final\" width=\"250\" height=\"386\" srcset=\"http:\/\/grangehallpress.com\/Enbridgeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ClimatePoster_B_Final-194x300.jpg 194w, http:\/\/grangehallpress.com\/Enbridgeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ClimatePoster_B_Final-663x1024.jpg 663w, http:\/\/grangehallpress.com\/Enbridgeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ClimatePoster_B_Final.jpg 1650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event will take place October 15, starting, from 9 am-7 pm in the Oakland Room of the Oakland Center on the campus of Oakland University.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium will begin with an address by the University of Michigan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsa.umich.edu\/earth\/people\/ci.pollackhenry_ci.detail\" target=\"_blank\">Henry Pollack<\/a>, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and author of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwithoutice.com\" target=\"_blank\">A World Without Ice<\/a><\/em>. It will conclude with a keynote address titled &#8220;Love and Death in the Anthropocene&#8221; by the brilliant and innovative\u00a0literary scholar <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danaluciano.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dana Luciano<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/explore.georgetown.edu\/people\/dl234\/?action=viewgeneral&amp;PageTemplateID=360\" target=\"_blank\">Georgetown University.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In between, we&#8217;ll have lots of conversation and fascinating presentations featuring, among others, some friends we&#8217;ve made here at the blog as well as others whose work we&#8217;ve long admired.
