Yesterday, we broke the news of a new natural gas pipeline project that will potentially affect Line 6B landowners (how many? we don’t know). The project will transport natural gas tracked from the Marcellus and Utica shale formations in West Virginia and Ohio to points around the country and Canada.
At present, very little detailed information is available, although we’re hearing from lots of landowners. We’re working hard to find out as much as we can as fast as we can. We do have a little more information in the form of a news article from the Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch. Apparently, Energy Transfer has made the official announcement of the project. Here is the part that will directly affect Michiganders:
Additionally, ETP expects to construct an approximately 195-mile segment from the Defiance area through Michigan and ultimately to the Union Gas Dawn Hub (Dawn) near Sarnia, Canada providing producers with access to diverse markets and end-users in Michigan and Canada with access to Marcellus and Utica supplies.
We can’t say for sure, but given the fact that Line 6B landowners in Howell and Fenton have been contacted and the line will run to Sarnia, it sounds to us like they want to use the Line 6B corridor. However, we’ve yet to verify that. If we can find that out soon, you can bet we’ll let you know.
The other bit of information we have (from the letter sent to landowners) is that three open houses will be held in Michigan. The are as follows:
Monday, July 14 at the Fenton Township Hall in Fenton, 5:30-7:30 pm
Tuesday, July 15 at the Village Conference Center of the Comfort Inn in Chelsea, 5:30-7:30 pm
Tuesday, July 15 at the Lois Wagner Memorial Library in Richmond, 5:30-7:30 pm
A brief footnote about obtaining further details about all of this: we’ve called the contact numbers that Energy Transfer has listed for more information. Conveniently, the individuals listed are “not in the office” today. Imagine that.
Thank you very much Jeff for keeping us informed, our land rep was just over to the house on Monday night and he had no mention of anything. Not that i would expect him to drop a bomb like this -the part that is troubling is the reason for the visit was to discuss the “restoration” or at the very least getting the mess somewhat cleaned up so that the back 5 acres of the property was again accessible, since this mess has started, we have been cut off for literally 50% of our property. Seeing how this is going from Fenton to Sarnia- i will assume everyone in between is affected (we are in Leonard). Stealing a quote from Susan Powter, “stop the madness”.
I’m glad someone is at least talking to you, Paul. And my understanding is that the folks from Bowman’s will be doing restoration over there. They’re really great.
Still not clear on the Rover route, however.
I just got off the phone with the Rover “answer lady”. She assured
me there are no plans to come into Ingham County. (Whew!)
Her name is Deborah. Her contact number is:(602) 367-9548
Phoenix, AZ.
Good news for you, Carol! I’m glad.
Thanks, Jeff. My heart goes out to those landowners traumatized
by Line 6B who will be forced to deal with this.
I’ll continue my support for any and all landowners
effected by this latest pipeline project. I’ll be at the informational
meetings and have plenty of tough questions.
To Rover’s credit, it only took 5 minutes and 3 phone calls
to get an answer to my question regarding the pipeline’s pathway.
NO ONE from Enbridge has EVER been that responsive to anything,
including their pipeline gushing tarsands!
I’ll be there, too, Carol. Will be great to see you in person! And I’ve actually heard some good things about ET. I’m going to call them shortly myself.
Jeff, are they coming to washtenaw county, chelsea areas
I’ll try to find out and let you know, Ruth.
Ruth,
According to Deborah at Rover, the new line will be in Washtenaw,
Livingston and other counties. Call her and she can specifically
tell you if it effects you.
Carol
Hi Jeff,
We just downloaded a good deal of information regarding this pipeline proposal from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) website. It includes ET Rover’s pre-filing info to FERC, along with a map of the project. We have posted all that on our website at: http://pstrust.org/et-rover-pipeline We also posted the FERC Citizen Guide which helps explain the process for these types of piplines. Hope this helps.

Fantastic, Carl! I recently described you on Facebook as a “national treasure.” I meant it. Thanks so much. Is that as detailed a map as we can expect at this point I can’t really tell if it’s the Line 6B corridor.
That map may be as good as it gets at this point, since hopefully a very specific route has not yet been decided upon. The company may have somewhat clearer county-by-county maps.
Paul, are you unable to get to your property because of the survey? My father is in NW ohio and received a letter to have a survey done. Thank you for your help!
Hmm , they have an old pipeline just sitting in the ground . Seems like they may want to somehow use it after all. Bottom line. They cant be trusted, we all know that! Enbridge looks out for Enbridge and their stockholders. any other donations or contributions to a community are just a sideshow full of smoke & mirrors!

would be smart of energy transfer to go parallel to line 6b….wouldnt it make sense? we are all mentally prepared and have gone through experience why not? open doors here…..welcome pipeliners!! welcome to leonard, michigan
